Nancy O’Dell

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Golden Mocha Brown with Light Golden Honey Highlights.

Cut:

Beyond middle-of-the-back length, with a front angel starting at the nose followed by long progressive layers.

Why it works:

The voluptuous waves swinging away from her cheekbones creates a beautiful silhouette of her fabulous heart-shaped face. The extreme, long hair is what adds drama to this shape.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David’s “Secret Egg Formula”– a dollop of David Groshen Gel Mousse with a dot of David Groshen Orange Stuff. For medium to coarse hair just use Orange Stuff. Preset the center part while the hair is wet. Use a medium round boar bristle brush maintaining the root direction. Pull and stretch the front fringe down and across, making sure that the wave flows just above the cheekbones. Finish drying the remainder of the hair with a large round boar bristle brush. Use a 2-inch round iron in the bottom 2/3’s of the longer strands of hair to create the soft wave. Separate with David Groshen Hair Polish. If necessary, use Waxed Out to hold and maintain the direction.

Megan Fox

Face Shape:

Oval.

Color:

Boysenberry with a hint of bordeaux.

Cut:

Beyond middle-of-the-back length with the front angle starting well below the chin and a hint of layering.

Why it works:

This sultry, sexy style is set by over-directing the hair back, creating a completely asymmetric shape – one side completely sleek, exposing her fabulous features; the other side showcasing gorgeous, wavy hair.

To style:

This style is for those with beyond middle-of-the-back length hair or it is a visit for extensions. For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David Groshen’s “Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.Preset the off-center part while the hair is wet. Use a medium round boar bristle brush to dry the hair, paying special attention to the direction of the hair around the hair line and part. Pulling the hair as sleek and tight on the backside is extremely important here. Use a large 1 ½ to 2-inch round iron through the bottom 2/3’s of each strand, making sure not to go any higher than the end of the first wave.

Ginnifer Goodwin

Face Shape:

Heart shaped face.

Color:

Dark chestnut with dark auburn highlights.

Cut:

Long, short haircut. Long top with tapered deconstructed sides and back, creating the sleekness and movement.

Why it works:

The a-symmetric shape allows an open forehead and long, flowing fringe with the front swoop cascading just across the cheekbone. The color helps separate and define the movement, making the layers visible where in solidly dark hair they might disappear.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David Groshen Medium Gel. For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For very coarse hair, use only Orange Stuff. Preset the part on the side while the hair is wet. Create a back direction at the top of the crown. Blow dry the hair using as large of a brush as you can while still controlling the hair (you need to get the hair onto 2/3’s of the brush to have this type of control). This way, you can pull the sides and nape down as straight as possible. At the top of the crown, lift the root to create your height, blending it into the shorter lengths at the bottom. This is where your sculpting comes into play. You have to watch the style while it is drying. Pull the front fringe down and across to create a sleekness and straightness to this area. Use a flat iron if necessary for the shape. Finish off your look with David Groshen Waxed Out. Apply a small amount to the hand, rub hands together until you create an even distribution through your hands. Smooth, separate, and create a delicate hold while necessary.

Selena Gomez

Face Shape:

Heart.

Hair Texture:

Medium to coarse and wavy.

Cut:

Collarbone length with the front angle starting below the chin. Progressive layers through the bottom.

Why it works:

The slightly off-center part, and the waves that fall gently to each side of the part, frame Selena’s beautiful features.

To style:

For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use only Orange Stuff. Preset the slightly off-center part while the hair is wet. Use a medium to large round boar bristle brush, making sure to maintain your preset part direction. Allow each section to cool completely before you remove it from the brush. This might be enough, but to make sure, have your favorite 1 ½-inch round iron hot and ready. Curl each section through the bottom 2/3’s to create this lively, large wave pattern. Use David Groshen Hair Polish to separate the waves and eliminate any unwanted fly-aways.

Rachel McAdams

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Hair Texture:

Fine to medium with a slight wave.

Cut:

Cut at the top of the shoulder, front fringe starting at the bridge of the nose. Blended through the sides with long, progressive layers, using the front fringe as a starting place.

Why it works:

The diagonal side part and swooping wave that flows from it cascades beautifully across Rachel’s cheekbones and blends into soft, large waves.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David Groshen Medium Gel. For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use only Orange Stuff. For extremely fine hair, spray David Groshen Texture Rising at the roots. Preset the side part while the hair is wet. Use a small to medium round boar bristle brush, lift, bend and stretch the bangs, watching to make sure to create just the right “swoop”. Use the same brush through the rest of the hair, allowing each section to cool while still on the brush. This might leave you with enough wave, but probably not. Use a 1 ¼-inch round iron through the bottom 2/3’s of each strand to create this big, beautiful wave pattern. Separate with David Grosen Hair Polish and use a blast of David Groshen Finishing Spray to hold this style.

Lisa Rinna

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Hair Texture:

Medium to course with a wave.

Cut:

Cut at the top of the shoulders in the back, with the front fringe starting at the nose, blended in the back using a heavy texturing technique. Use the length at the front fringe as a guide for the layers at the top, making sure to use only a texturing cutting technique.

Why it works:

The soft fringe into the swooping side wave falls beautifully across Lisa’s sculpted cheekbones.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David Groshen Medium Gel. For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, just use Orange Stuff. For extremely fine hair, spray David Groshen Texture Rising at the roots. Use a medium to small round boar bristle brush with the “lift, bend, and stretch” technique through the top and sides. Style the hair at the back with an upward flip. For those with coarse hair, don’t be afraid to use a flat iron to smooth the ends. Take a small amount of David Groshen’s Waxed Out and spread completely in your hands, then apply through the bottom of the style to create separation and texture. Pinch the pieces gently in the front to create the openness in the front fringe.

Kristen Stewart

Face Shape:

Heart with a square jawline.

Hair Texture:

Medium to fine with a wave.

Cut:

Beyond the collarbone, front angle starting below the nose. Long, progressive layers.

Why it works:

This beautiful Victorian style uses soft, tendril waves to accent Kristin’s beautiful features.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, texturize on the roots. For coarse hair, use David’s “Secret Egg Formula.” Use a vent brush to pull and extend the hair at a 90 degree angle from the scalp. This will create a fullness in volume necessary for this shape. Continue this technique throughout the head. Use a 1 ¼-inch round iron through small sections of hair to create these soft, bouncy waves. Separate with David Groshen Hair Polish. Gather the hair through the top of the crown and secure with a bobby pin using a criss-cross fashion, locking it in place. Take the sides up and back, covering the previous criss-cross. Repeat the same on the other side. Be mindful of the shape you are creating as you go. You need to maintain enough fullness to match the sides of the waves. Pull down a few tendrils of each side. Give yourself a blast of David Groshen Finishing Spray, and then you are done!

Kellie Pickler

Face Shape:

Heart.

Hair Texture:

Medium texture with a wave.

Cut:

This inverted (shorter in the back, longer in the front) a-symmetrical bob is always a classic. It follows the hollow of the neck all the way around. A slight delicate angle at the front fringe creates a whisper of movement.

Why it works:

You couldn’t dream of a better frame for a heart shaped face.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David Groshen Medium Gel. For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, just use Orange Stuff. For extremely fine hair, spray David Groshen Texture Rising at the roots. Preset the side part while the hair is wet. Use a medium to large round boar bristle brush, then lift, bend, and stretch. This technique will create the bend in the middle of the hair and fullness in the root of each section. Use David Groshen Finishing Spray for the finishing touch.

Jessica Stroup

Face Shape:

Classic heart.

Hair Texture:

Fine to medium with a slight wave.

Cut:

This blunt shape is cut at the hollow of the neck, with the front angle starting just above the chin in a textured bottom to create movement and airiness.

Why it works:

The openness at the forehead and the long swoopy and front wave are the classic definitive ways to enhance a heart shaped face.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David Groshen Medium Gel. For medium to coarse hair, use David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” For extremely fine hair, spray David Groshen Texture Rising at the roots. Preset the side part while the hair is wet. Use a medium to large round boar bristle brush, and blow dry the hair making sure not the bend the hair under, but keeping the heat on the flat of the brush. For the front fringe, lift and place the hair on the brush and allow to cool. Use a flat iron if necessary to create those beautiful, straight ends. Use the iron absolutely at the end of the front wave to create this straight upturn. Use David Groshen Waxed Out to separate and define the “piecey-ness” at the bottom of the style.

Jessica Lowndes

Face Shape:

Long heart.

Hair Texture:

Fine to medium with a wave.

Use a medium round boar bristle brush, lift, bend and stretch the bangs making sure to keep the ends as straight as possible. Jennie Garth

Face Shape:

Oval.

Hair Texture:

Fine to medium with a slight wave.

Cut:

Blunt line starting at the hollow of the neck with rounded layering throughout the bottom of the style.

Why it works:

This emphases is on a sultry look. The tight sides with an over-directed looser top give the beautiful dangling earrings room to shine.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David Groshen’s famous “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff. Comb the hair straight back and use a medium to round boar bristle brush creating as much height and volume toward the top of the crown as possible. Lift, bend and stretch each section as you blow dry the hair throughout the back of the head, creating a beautiful soft under-turn. Clip the hair at the top of the crown out of the way. Then lift the hair at the temples and secure in the back of the head with a bobby pin. Do the same on the opposite side. Back comb the front to the back of the crown. Use David Groshen Finishing Spray to set the back combing and brush out the front of the hair, restoring a natural looking root direction. Use Finishing Spray to make this look solid.

Jenna Elfman

January Jones

Fine to medium with a wave.

Cut:

Collarbone length hair with the front angle starting just above the chin. Use this as a guide to start your layering.

Why it works:

The off-center, slightly irregular part creates the mood for a natural tousled elegance.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s famous “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff. Preset the slightly off–center part while the hair is wet (but not too perfectly). Using a medium sized round boar bristle brush, blow-dry each section allowing the hair to cool completely while still on the brush. Use a 1 ½ inch round curling iron through the bottom 2/3’s of each section. Give a blast of David Groshen Finishing Spray, turn your head upside down, tousle gently, place and separate the waves with David Groshen Hair Polish.

Hilary Swank

Face Shape:

Long square face.

Hair Texture:

Fine to medium with a slight wave.

Cut:

Collarbone length with the front angle starting just above the chin. Use the long layers as a guide to start your style.

Why it works:

The long flowing first wave creates a width and exposes a very strong jaw line on the opposite side.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s famous “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.Preset the side part while the hair is wet. Using a medium sized round boar bristle brush, make sure to maintain the part direction at the front to create the first flowing wave. Continue drying each section with the same brush, allowing each section to cool while still on the brush. This should create a smoother top with an increased wave pattern toward the bottom. If you don’t have enough wave, don’t be afraid to use a 1 ½-inch round iron to create this beautiful wave pattern.

Halle Berry

Face Shape:

Heart.

Hair Texture:

Medium to coarse with waves.

Cut:

Tightly textured through the temples and nape area, progressing textured lengths to the top of the crown. This shape is not so much how short you take it, but how carefully you take it short.

Why it works:

The vertical emphasis of this shape with the long textured top draws attention to Halle’s chiseled features.

To style:

While the hair is wet, apply David Groshen Waxed Out, making sure to create an even distribution. Hold and lift the crown area with your hand and blow dry to create this lift and separation. If necessary, use a twizzling effect with your fingers to separate and place each wave. Use additional Waxed Out if necessary.

Christina Aguilera

Face Shape:

Heart.

Hair Texture:

Fine with a slight wave.

Cut:

Blunt cut starting just below the nape of the neck. Use this as a length guide all the way around the hair cut. No graduation– extremely blunt. The front fringe starts at the tip of the nose with a very gentle graduation into the blunt line.

Why it works:

The front fringe creates a hint of movement framing eyes anyone would kill for.

To style:

Apply David Groshen’s “Secret Egg Formula.” Preset the part while the hair is still wet. Use a vent brush to create volume throughout the roots with the exception of the front fringe. Use a medium boar bristle brush through the front fringe with a slight lift, bend through the middle and pull the ends straight. Check to make sure you are creating the shape that you desire. Use a flat iron through the bottom 2/3’s to create this ultra-straight look. Use David Groshen Hair Polish to smooth and place the front fringe.

Carey Mulligan

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Hair Texture:

Fine to Medium with a slight wave.

Cut:

Carey’s hair is tightly tapered starting from the nape of the neck to the occipital bone and forward to the temples. The round layering allows you to add length to the top of the crown and a progressing length through to the front fringe.

Why it works:

The deep set part and long, swoopy front run beautifully into the tightly cropped sides, creating an elegant frame.

To style:

While the hair is wet, use David Groshen Medium Gel. Comb into the side part and place the front fringe into a sweep. Give a blast of David Groshen Finishing Spray. Allow to dry completely. Brush lightly and you are done.

Rebecca Romijn

Face Shape:

Square.

Color:

Blonde on blonde.

Cut:

Collarbone-length hair with the short point starting just above her chin, and long progressive layers.

Why it works:

The direction from the part creates openness at the forehead and allows the hair to drape down in a diagonal. Perfect placement of the waves frame and enhance her eyes and cheekbones.

To style:

For fine to medium hair use David Groshen Lite Gel. For coarse hair use Lite Gel with a dot of Orange Stuff, a “blue egg” if you will. You need to part the hair, creating the root direction up and back in a C-Shape as a staging point for the waves to flow. Blow-dry the hair taking care not to disturb or change the direction you’ve established. Use a 1 ½-inch curling iron on small sections and allow to cool while proceeding to the next section. Do not separate until the hair is completely cool. Gently separate with Hair Polish to create perfectly formed strands.

America Ferrera

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Color:

Deep, chestnut brown with mocha highlights.

Cut:

Three inches beyond the collarbone with the front angles starting at her nose. Progressive layers throughout to release big, beautiful waves.

Why it works:

The openness at the forehead and the cascading first wave accentuates her cheekbone and highlights her smile.

To style:

For fine to medium hair use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For medium to coarse hair, just use Orange Stuff. Start with a multi-directional part. Using the center of your eyebrow as a guide, part the hair diagonally back an inch to the center of your crown. Section the hair into four sections. Starting at the back of the head, use a medium round boar bristle brush and allow the hair to cool while still on the brush. Continue this through each section making sure to maintain the multi-directional part. If this has left you with enough wave, fantastic. If not, use a large 1 ½ inch round curling iron on one-inch by two and a half-inch sections for more curl. Allow hair to cool and then separate curls with Hair Polish. Set with Finishing Spray.

Nicole Kidman

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Honey-blonde.

Cut:

Mid-back with the front angle starting beyond the chin, and subtle long layers throughout the bottom.

Why it works:

The double side part helps create openness and height, while the front pieces tucked behind the ear create a diagonal that adds additional length and enhances her beautiful bone structure.

To style:

For fine hair use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.

Do this while hair is soaking wet and make sure to distribute the product evenly throughout. Pre-section the hair, parting it slightly off-center half an inch. Start the second part half an inch behind the hairline using the arch of the eyebrow as a guide, going back and towards the center of the crown to create natural height. While maintaining the direction of your parts, use a large round boar bristle brush to blow-dry the hair completely. Take a 2-inch or larger curling iron through the bottom half of each strand. Smooth each section with David Groshen Hair Polish.

Jennifer Hudson

Face Shape:

Round.

Color:

Dark coffee bean.

Cut:

Mid-back with the front angle starting below the chin and long, progressive layers throughout.

Why it works:

The side part creates length, and long swooping bangs cascade just across her cheekbone to enhance her eyes and smile.

To style:

For fine to medium hair use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For medium to coarse hair, use Orange Stuff. Create a side part and separate hair into four sections. Dry each section with a large round boar bristle brush. When finished, take the same sections using a 2 inch curling iron to create these beautiful, large barrel waves. Make sure to maintain the side part. Finish with David Groshen Hair Polish to keep hair smooth.

Ellen Pompeo

Face Shape:

Oval.

Color:

Light to medium golden-brown with copper highlights.

Cut:

Mid-back with the front angle starting beyond her nose and loads of long progressive layers.

Why it works:

An oval face shape allows you to utilize just about any hairstyle.

To style:

For fine to medium hair use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For medium to coarse hair, use Orange Stuff. Separate hair into four sections and create a slightly off-center part. Use a medium-size boar bristle brush throughout each section making sure to create the initial front wave that cascades over the cheekbones. Finish with David Groshen Hair Polish and Finishing Spray.

Eva Longoria

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Deep, espresso brown with cappuccino highlights. Larger, bold highlights with very subtle or small differences in lightness have become a standard in extraordinary hair.

Cut:

The front angle starts past chin-length, with long angles and a deconstructed front angle.

Why it works:

The openness at the forehead and the side part allow for a long, framing wave. A deconstructed front creates a softness that frames her jaw line.

To style:

For fine hair use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For coarser hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For very coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff. With a large boar bristle brush, pull the hair as straight as possible allowing it only to turn slightly at the very ends of each section. For coarser, wavier hair, use a large curling iron in equal size sections. This will close the cuticle, seal in shine and create large, bouncy waves. Use David Groshen Hair Polish to add shine and finish this natural look.

Martina McBride

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Light mahogany with vibrant red highlights.

Cut:

Mid-back with the front angle starting at the chin. The hair is layered using the front angle as a guide.

Why it works:

A side part can work with enough lift at the roots to create openness at the forehead and allow extra weight on the heavy side of the part, creating long swooping bangs. For Martina, this enhances her beautiful cheekbones and frames her fabulous eyes.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use Orange Stuff.

Do this while hair is soaking wet and make sure to distribute the product evenly throughout. Section the hair using a multi-dimensional part 1-inch off-center and back at a 45° angle. The part goes back 1-inch and towards the center. Use a medium boar bristle brush on 1-inch by 2-inch sections. Dry each section completely and allow hair to cool while wrapped around the brush. If you happen to have access to 10 brushes, set your hair on them in the same fashion and let them cool as you continue around the head. Unwrap the brushes and separate with David Groshen Hair Polish.

Gwen Stefani

Face Shape:

Heart to square.

Color:

Light champagne-blonde.

Cut: Collarbone-length bob, long sweeping bangs starting at the nose blended gently with long layers.

Why it works:

Only the most beautiful eyes can wear bangs like this with a heart-shaped face. Shortening the face length in most cases should be avoided with this face shape.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.Do this while hair is soaking wet and make sure to distribute the product evenly throughout. Use a medium boar bristle brush to blow-dry hair. Smooth and direct the bangs into a sweeping fashion. Dry the remainder of the hair. Take 1-inch by 2-inch sections with a 1-inch curling iron and curl each section, allowing the curls to cool without disturbing them. After they have cooled, separate and place the curls with David’s Hair Polish. Secure with a blast of David Groshen Finishing Spray.

Beyonce Knowles

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Medium golden-brown with very subtle golden-blonde highlights.

Cut:

Her long hair is slightly rounded at the bottom, cut with an angle starting an inch below the nose. The long, progressive layers create movement and release waves.

Why it works:

For those blessed with a heart shape, you have the freedom to experiment with hairstyles. The first wave enhances her captivating smile.

To style:

The best way to create the height and wave pattern in this style is to set hair on 3 to 4-inch round rollers, making sure to direct the hair at the forehead up and away. This creates the height and sets the direction for the rest of the style. After the hair is dry, you can use a large round boar bristle brush to smooth out the hair and create the exact root direction throughout. Use Hair Polish to smooth and separate the waves and curls. If you don’t have rollers, you can achieve this look with a 3-inch round curling iron, although it is much more difficult to get fullness at the roots.

Amanda Bynes

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Blonde on blonde.

Cut:

Mid-back with front angles starting below the chin and long progressive layers.

Why it works:

The openness at her forehead creates length, and the soft movement created by the layers at the front of the head creates a beautiful flow.

To style:

For fine to medium hair use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For medium to coarse hair, just use Orange Stuff. After applying products on wet hair, part in the center to slightly off-center. Separate the hair in four sections using large clips to secure. Starting at the back of the head, use a large round boar bristle brush to dry hair, making sure the airflow goes from the roots to the ends. Continue this process one section at a time maintaining the original center part. If hair is still a little fuzzy, use a flat iron on 1-inch sections to smooth and add shine to your hair. Add Hair Polish for the finishing touch.

Jessica Biel

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Light brown with subtle dark blonde highlights help accentuate Jessica’s beautiful eyes.

Cut:

The front angle starts below the chin with long layers throughout the bottom.

Why it works:

To style:

For fine hair use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium to coarse hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” Preset the hair in the center. Use your favorite brush to completely dry hair. Separate with David Groshen Hair Polish and for fine hair set the style with David Groshen Finishing Spray.

Kelly Ripa

Face Shape:

Square.

Color:

Champagne-blonde.

Cut:

Four to five inches beyond the collarbone with the front angle starting just above the chin. Long, progressive layers ensure that fine hair is not over-layered.

Why it works:

A multi-directional part helps create extra height that works with a heart-shaped face. The long fringe cascades across the jaw line and brings attention to Kelly’s best features.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.

Do this while hair is soaking wet and make sure to distribute the product evenly throughout the hair. Preset the direction of the part to use as a guide for your sections. Start the part slightly off-center. Move away from the center towards the ear for an inch and a half, and then back towards the center of the crown to create natural height. For the back and bottom of the hair, use a medium round boar bristle brush. Bend hair in the middle and wrap the ends around the brush. Dry each section completely and let the hair cool while still on the brush. On the top and front sections of the hair, use a large round boar bristle brush. Blow-dry each section on top up and out from the roots at 90°. Bend hair in the middle and pull the brush straight through each section to create straight ends with a soft bend. Separate with David Groshen Hair Polish.

Jennifer Garner

Face Shape:

Heart to square.

Color:

Golden red-brown with soft copper-red highlights.

Cut:

Shoulder-length with the front angle starting at the collarbone. Long layers through the very bottom maintain a blunt line.

Why it works:

Her natural waves cascade across her cheekbones framing her eyes and highlighting her smile.

To style:

This is a great natural style for those blessed with wavy hair. Use David Groshen Orange Stuff on soaking wet hair. Distribute evenly. Section the part off-center, back towards the middle of the head. Direct the hair up and away from your forehead until you like the flow of the first wave. Use David Groshen Finishing Spray lightly over your wet hair, and do not touch. Your style is done. Allow to dry completely and enjoy frizz free waves. This is called the Ketty Losetto method of drying hair (named for one of my hairdressers who discovered it).

Jessica Alba

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Medium golden-brown with caramel highlights.

Cut:

Mid-back length with the front angle starting at the chin, and long, progressive layers releasing movement through the bottom of the style.

Why it works:

The slightly off-center part creates openness at the forehead allowing the swooping side waves to cascade across her cheekbones, enhancing her beautiful eyes and dimples.

To style:

For fine to normal hair, while hair is wet, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse wavy hair, just use David Groshen Orange Stuff.

Blow-dry hair creating soft, long waves with a medium to large round boar bristle brush. Make sure to create the root direction at the part up and away from the forehead. Take a 2-inch curling iron in 2-inch square sections. Starting at the middle of the hair strand, twist once grabbing the ends until all the hair and ends are wrapped around the curling iron. Separate waves with David Groshen Hair Polish and finish with David Groshen Finishing Spray.

Carrie Underwood

Face Shape:

Heart.

Color:

Blonde on blonde reflects and absorbs light while separate layers enhance her flattering hair shape.

Cut:

Mid-back length with long, progressive layers and an angle starting just below her chin.

Why it works:

The key to a heart shape is to lift and open the center of the forehead to create height. Carrie’s style conjures an illusion of length on her face. The style flows which compliments her beautiful, high cheekbones.

To style:

To achieve this style use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” Create a diagonal part to create natural height and then blow-dry the hair, paying attention to the root direction. You can either use hot rollers or a 1 ½ inch hot iron to create the beautiful curls and waves. Separate and smooth each section of waves with the smallest amount of Hair Polish.

Kate Hudson

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Color:

Blonde on blonde.

Cut:

Mid-back with the front angle starting at the chin and long progressive layers.

Why it works:

The center part brings an openness through Kate’s somewhat high forehead that creates a unique way to lengthen and narrow a square face. The first wave flows right off the cheekbone, enhancing her beautiful bone structure.

To style:

For fine to medium hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For medium to coarse hair, use Orange Stuff. Create a center part and separate hair into four sections. Use a very large round boar bristle brush and pull hair as straight as possible while drying. Pass your largest round iron through the ends of your hair, back and away, to create a slight bend and not a complete wave. Use David Groshen Hair Polish to smooth the ends and Hair Wax to separate the waves and add more texture.

Emmy Rossum

Face Shape:

Heart to square.

Color:

Dark golden-brown with light golden-brown highlights.

Cut:

Mid-back with an angle starting below the collarbone and very subtle long layers.

Why it works:

The wave created by using a side part flows across her cheekbones and into the remainder of the waves for an “old meets new” style.

To style:

For fine hair use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” For coarse hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff.Do this while hair is soaking wet and make sure to distribute the product evenly throughout. Separate the hair with a multi-directional center part, outward and back towards the center. Smooth and comb the hair tightly against your scalp, creating a long flowing first wave on the heavy side of the part. Secure the lighter side behind the ear with a hair pin or clip if you have one. If you have the time, allow your hair to dry naturally. If not, secure both sides with a hair pin and blow-dry with the flow of the hair. Be careful not to disturb the part. Use a large curling iron on the unsecured remaining part of the hair. Do not disturb the first wave or the tightness you have created. Use David Groshen Hair Polish to release and smooth the waves.

Ali Larter

Face Shape:

Heart to square.

Color:

Blonde on blonde with pale blonde highlights in the front crown area.

Cut:

The front angles start below the chin; long progressive layers.

Why it works:

The openness at the forehead and an off-center part create a wave that drapes beautifully across Ali’s cheekbones, accentuating her bone structure and her smile.

To style:

For fine hair, use David Groshen Gel Mousse. For medium to coarse hair, use David’s “Secret Fried Egg Formula.” Preset the style by creating a side part while the hair is wet. Blow-dry the hair with a medium boar bristle brush to create lift at the crown and sides. Set hair on the brush at a 90° angle and cool completely on the brush for each section. Take a 1 ½ inch curling iron with one-by-one sections of hair through the temple downward. Make sure the front wave flows into the smaller waves you created through the iron. Finish with David Groshen Hair Polish to separate and smooth the luscious waves. Set the style with David Groshen Finishing Spray— a fine mist for subtle hold.

Drew Barrymore

Face Shape:

Square to heart.

Color:

Medium to light chocolate-brown with copper-blonde highlights.

Cut:

Mid-back with a front angle starting at the collarbone and long, progressive layers that release natural waves.

Why it works:

The off-center part creates openness at the forehead allowing the first wave to drape just above the cheekbones, enhancing her jaw line and eyes.

To style:

For wavy hair, use David Groshen Orange Stuff. Then part the hair when it’s wet in the center to create the direction and placement of the first wave. When the hair is very wet, use the slightest amount of Finishing Spray to seal in the shape of the waves. Do this without touching hair until it has dried. If you’re not blessed with naturally wavy hair, set the wave pattern as above and blow-dry, then curl with a large 2-inch round iron. Separate with Hair Polish and don’t be afraid to really shake your hair free to create natural looking waves.
